The North of England’s largest and best-loved outdoor ice rink – The Ice Factor – is back for its 16th season in York, with 975 sq m of real ice for you to glide around and show off your skating talents!
The rink is surrounded by illuminated trees, decorative skate hire marquees, wooden cabins, and a viewing platform.
This year’s COVID-19 pandemic has brought some changes to our usual layout. We will have two skate hire marquees, one on either side of the rink, enabling each session to have its own marquee for pre- and post-skating and therefore twice as much space as in previous years.
There will be a strictly limited and reduced capacity on the rink to allow for social distancing, and skaters aged 11 and above will be required to wear face coverings.
Regrettably our rinkside café, The Chalet, will not be operating, but we will be offering a variety of winter food and drinks from our alpine-themed takeaway cabins, including hot dogs, toasties and sweet treats as well as mulled wine and the best hot chocolate in town!

Selected as one of the Top 10 Christmas Ice Rinks nationwide by The Sun, The Guardian and The Times.
Winner of four York Tourism Awards: Visitor Attraction of the Year (under 50,000 visitors) 2010, 2012, 2015 and most recently Family Friendly Experience 2017!
