Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland is York's favourite festive event, offering a magical winter experience for all ages, with its glistening outdoor ice rink, thrilling funfair, magical Santa’s Grotto and cosy alpine café The Chalet.
Yorkshire's Winter Wonderland is free to enter, with separate tickets required for skating and for Santa's Grotto. Tokens for the funfair rides can be purchased on site.
Yorkshire's Winter Wonderland is home to the North of England’s largest outdoor ice rink, with 975 sq m of real ice and a showstopping 30ft high Christmas tree at its centre.
This year the rink has a newly landscaped woodland scene as its backdrop, featuring giant trees edged with ever-changing colourful neon ropes bringing them to life, as well as glowing Christmas Bauble trees, creating a stunning setting for winter skating.
With the latest ice-making technology, the extra-thick glistening rink is flanked by the après-skate Chalet café and terrace as well as the skate hire marquee, decorated with vintage alpine posters and photographs and even a cow-bell or two to set the scene.
Frequent Skater Pass - Make the most of the seven-week season - collect a stamp from the box office over five skating sessions and the 6th visit is free!

Our cosy rinkside café The Chalet is the perfect place to warm up before or after your skating session, or for non-skaters to relax and watch all the action, with the outdoor terrace bringing you even closer to the thrills and spills of skating.
The alpine-themed cafe offers a range of hot and cold drinks including warming mulled wine or hot chocolate, and is fully licensed. Delicious winter-warming food and sweet treats, as well as a Kids' Corner make for a delightful apres-skate experience. Private parties can also be arranged.
Overlooking the snow-sprinkled trees in the Enchanted Woodland, individual wooden picnic cabins decorated with festive touches make the perfect spot to tuck in to a gourmet sausage from the outdoor German Grill or enjoy a warming mulled wine.
The funfair offers fun for all ages. For speedsters and thrill-seekers there's the ever-popular Waltzer as well as a 'twist-and-scream' Twister, and everybody's favourite - the Brooklands Dodgems dating from 1937, a vintage masterpiece from the golden era of fairgrounds - makes a welcome return.
Younger visitors will be enthralled by four children’s rides, including the new Jets and Train rides, the beautiful vintage Muffin the Mule Autodrome and the Toy Set. Plus there’s game stalls offering a prize every time, so everyone goes home happy!
SANTA'S GROTTO
Christmas wouldn't be the same without a visit to Santa and his elves in the Enchanted Woodland.....
Swing by the South Entrance of York Designer Outlet and take a wander through the snowy trees in the Enchanted Woodland, where Christmas wishes come alive. With giant size woodland creatures at every turn, the twinkling trail leads to hidden wish potions, Wilson the Wise Owl, Stardust the Unicorn, and finally the glowing Wishing Cauldron, where everyone can drop in their dreams and watch as they shimmer to life with Christmas magic.
Then follow the glittering light tunnel to find Santa in his Grotto where a warm welcome and a special gift awaits.
